The Day Electricity Goes Out

There is an old saying “You dont appreciate something until you lose it” It can be most anything, a sweetheart, your job, home, eyesight the list goes on. I’m in Sharm el sheikh Egypt as I write this blog on July 22, 2021, its summer of course and the temperature is usually over 100 degrees most days. It rains every five years here. Well the electricity went out and with that the air conditioning, the fan, lights and everything else in my home that needs electricity.

The question is how long will it be out. An hour, a day, longer? There are many incredible disasters occurring at this moment in time, floods in Europe and Japan, forest fires in dozens of states in America and around the world and with those catastrophes hundreds of thousands of people displaced and more having lost their electricity. We are so dependent on electricity it is scary. Without electricity I’m as rich as my billionaire friends because all our money is in the bank and can’t be accessed without electricity. The physical bank can’t open without electricity, you can’t drive there as the traffic lights would be out. Is your car electric? Your food will only last a few days even if frozen. If an EMP (electro magnetic pulse) were to happen which has in the past it knocks out electricity as do natural disasters. A large city would in two days time be one of the world’s worst catastrophes. No communication in the government, police or fire departments. Hospitals couldn’t function. Food shortages that would be unprecedented. The stores can’t open or operate without electricity so there would be mass lootings. Water can’t flow without electricity.

How prepared are you for a disaster that hopefully may just be one week? Do you have at least one solar panel? Do you have stores of water and canned foods? Propane tanks for cooking? Flashlights? Candles? Batteries? Dried goods? Medical supplies? A gun? Probably not because we take life for granted. Cash will be worthless, the most valuable commodity will be water and people will kill to get it for themselves and family. It’s a scary scenario but dont think it can’t happen because it has.

They say you can only rely on yourself, the government, police and fire personnel will be taking care of their families so don’t think they can help you if they wanted to. There is no way for them to respond or communicate with the management. So the moral of this story is be prepared, think what you would need to spend a lengthy amount of time outdoors or hunkered down in your home. I recommend getting out of the city if possible. Buy a tent, propane stove, ice chest, food, water, seeds, batteries, candles, all the basic needs to survive. If a natural disaster never occurs that will be Fantastic.

You might want to take the family camping to show your children how good they have it with their electronic games, phones, TV, comfortable bed, roof over their head and a full refrigerator. I would take my kids to the poorest area of L.A. and show them how great their life is and how lucky they are. Do the kind thing and share this blog and the Be Fantastic Philosophy which is at
