How many people out there out of the 7+ billion of us on the planet need someone to talk to, someone with some good advice, someone to share some positive thoughts? My guess is a LOT. I just got back from a lunch with a beautiful young lady from Kiev, Ukraine who has been living here in Sharm el sheikh Egypt for 8 years. We met on the mini bus when she heard the driver say “Welcome Dr. Fantastic” as I boarded the bus. It prompted her to say something in English so I immediately introduced myself hearing English and gave her my flyer. A big smile crossed her face. She texted me the next day. I just learned at lunch that just moments before we met she was unhappy and thinking to herself “I gotta find a doctor” She was amazed when I gave her my flyer and introduced myself as Dr. Fantastic. No wonder the smile on her face.
It gives me great joy when i can make people smile, solve their problems, give them some motivation, steer them to positive thinking. This timing has happened more times than I can remember, on the mini busses at least three times. In Sharm I have over 640 Ambassadors alone and each time I introduce the philosophy and am told “You made my day” makes me very happy and makes my day.
I met a young lady from Latvia months ago who looked very sad. I asked her what was troubling her and after some coercion she told me she came to Sharm to surprise her boyfriend and she was the one surprised when she found him with another woman. I learned a couple of weeks later in an email from her that the night before I met her she contemplated killing herself. She thanked me for my advice and that really made my day. When she had told me when we met her experience I immediately said “That is Fantastic news!” She said “How is that Fantastic?” I said that its Fantastic news that she found out what a shit he is now rather than ten years from now. I told her to look at the positives. I told her “You are young, beautiful, healthy and in Sharm el sheikh one of the best places on Earth, and are free of a loser boyfriend”
Some may not believe this story but a few days later a store owner in that area called me over and saw what I did days earlier and said “After she left you she came to my shop with a smile on her face and bought some things, you made her happy” I asked him to repeat it and videotaped his testimony in case no one believed the story, I never lie.
It’s tough being all alone in foreign countries but there are moments when all my efforts makes sense, make it worth while. I have some Fantastic plans to get my message to the masses, I may or may not be successful but as I always say “I’ts the journey not the destination”. So one compliment a day will have to suffice for now.
